9. Plague is in the air
Far away someone is awake, working upright,
far away from camaraderie and limelight,
chasing unfulfilled dreams in the darkest of the nights,
when eyes demand sleep, they sweltered for rest,
but their faces flashed signs all the time.
Burn down charcoal into life,
but if a dollar counts, then their worth's a dime.
They appear with their faces, dejected,
far away from camaraderie and limelight,
chasing unfulfilled dreams in the darkest of the nights,
when eyes demand sleep, they sweltered for rest,
but their faces flashed signs all the time.
Burn down charcoal into life,
but if a dollar counts, then their worth's a dime.
standing on veranda glancing all of this to culminate,
working from home and at the end all you do is lurk,
with the impatience that you carry in your soul.
Tried everything you could to put yourself from one to two,
made quite a few masks at home too,
for when you are walking down the road,
staying at least few feet apart, smearing some sanitizer all over your hand,
waiting patiently to shatter by the kiss of your lover.
Torn by the winds of change, they see their food with a smile on face,
but don’t forget the thought that we are simple and humble they said.
Every day the heart whirls like a tempest,
unable to interpret what keeps echoing in it.
The whole world utters that we are at risk,
but the one who has sacrificed know the lives that are at stake.
Perhaps in the absence of people living in mindless ignorant ways,
the earth began to heal on those empty streets,
as we owe a big time about the losses and grieve.
At times like these, hope seems futile to hear,
and it chokes you from the ability to breath,
as we waited for the fire to end, we waited for our gods,
we are asking to be saved, we are waiting to be spared,
yet we choke from the inability to breath.
Indeed, the plague is in the air.
