41. Hunches

Hunches in the dark, hunched like a roadblock,
past that point, passed all crimes,
could have been but never was,
ideal, no one around me dear,
carried hunches in my stomach,
but do you want to be near?
slip up the time,
forget the reason why you are here,
climbing up the handrail,
same kind of smile, slow down the time,
quench out the candle,
tilt your head towards mine,
memorise the trace of my face,
keep up with me,
I stall so you keep running,
waiting for it to end but the ending you'd never imagined,
of all the gambles you've played, that kind of a game,
call it a hunch or a mistake worth making once in your lifetime.

take us to an unknown place where you can make it work,
I'll be at my best, you in your turtleneck,
count up everything from days of solitude to solstice spent together,
will be back on before the winter sun goes down,
time is a thief, deceiving like a swindler with no money around,
I think you are a magician in this town,
now they see us escape,
folklore by the fireplace,
so put off those flames,
all looks on me, tilt your head towards mine and they'll forget,
burry the trace of my face in this very chamber,
I'll capture the sunburnt blush on your cheekbones,
close all the doors to these closets,
paint me inside of you,
memories, a bad way to recreate this summer,
but we still live on, take a bet on this hunch we got in our stomach,
the stories live on.
